  • The Good, The Bad And The Hopeful / I

The Good :: Had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving dinner with some friends, and they introduced me to several beautiful songs that have been on my playlist since.  For the record, 楊宗緯 is an amazing talent and his rendition of 孙燕姿's 雨天 is truly moving and arguably better than the original.  Maybe not the best looker, but so much emotion.

Last night, I met Häagen-Dazs' Caramelized Pear & Toasted Pecan for the first time and it was heavenly.  Coming from someone who has a noted dislike of traditional pears, that means a lot.  It joins Rum Raisin on my list of favorites.  It's limited edition though, unfortunately.

Found out the grocery store near my apartment has bánh mì (Vietnamese hoagie).  I don't know how they compare to the $2 bánh mì I used to have in Philadelphia, but this is awesome regardless.  I can't believe I never noticed them being sold before.

The Bad :: I have a new pet peeve: banner ads that automatically play music or movie trailers when your mouse drifts too close.  There is one on the top of my AIM window (stupid Thumbplay), and every time I minimize another window that was on top, or try to click on the AIM window itself, I get a violent jolt of loud, undesired music.  Since I usually have my speakers on at a decent level to compensate for the softer audio of video files, that's ear-hurting, head-splitting loud.

No, I don't care about Rihanna's Shut Up And Drive, nor do I give a rat's hairy behind about the latest movie in the Die Hard series.  If I did, I would be sure to look it up myself, thank you very much.  It's also counter-productive, as I'm now going to install something to remove those ads the first chance I get.

The Hopeful :: There are a couple loose ends that really need tying up.  I hope all goes well.  I should start dating again as well, but where oh where does one find the time?

We are never too late to learn anything. I'm 27 and I bet you're younger than me to what I can vaguely recall...

My grandmother, born 1921, first learned how to write her name at age 74. I was 15 then and in awe as I saw her practising writing by tracing words from some old Chinese Newspaper that my dad had read when she was living with us, word by word. She would ask me what was the meaning of each word and whether she had written well or not. She don't really know how to write, so she actually traced the words she saw on the newspaper by shading and shaping out the words on some excercise books we kids dun use anymore.

So as you can see, it's never too late for us to learn anything.

To quote an idiom: better late than never.

There's this group I saw on my friend's profile on facebook. The group name is: Totally different people who's life paths crossed at some point in time.

lol... i guess this somehow applies to me and you. I'm living in Singapore.
